Set Dancing and Tin Whistle Classes have resumed and we are in full swing. Our weekly sessions are every Wednesday night from 7.30pm at St Philips Hall. 146 Hoddle St, Collingwood.
We are beginning a monthly ceili to be held on the first Wednesday of every month beginning 1st February 2012. Our own Joan Mundy will be leading the musicians and dancers. Entry is free and all musicans, dancers and visitors are welcome.

Comhaltas Ceoltoiri Eireann was founded by musicians in 1951 to promote Irish traditional music and the first Fleadh Cheoil was organised in Mullingar, County Weatmeath. Within a few years, this had become a National Festival attended by thousands of traditional musicians, singers and dancers from all over Ireland and soon also from overseas.
Branches of Comhaltas have formed in every county in Ireland and also abroad, organising classes, concerts, and sessions in local communities. Comhaltas is now a world-wide organisation, with active branches in the United States, Britain, Canada, Japan and elsewhere. In fact, there are hundreds of branches in 15 countries on 4 continents and very vibrant branches in Melbourne, Perth, Sydney and Canberra and more recently in Adelaide.

The Melbourne branch of Comhaltas was founded in 1970. The branch is based at 150 Hoddle St, Abbotsford VIC 3067. You can view our location on Google Maps or by Melways reference 44-D5. Collingwood railway station is on Stanton Street behind Collingwood Town Hall and within 5 mins walk of St Phillips Anglican Hall where we meet.
The Melbourne Comhaltas is an incorporated association, membership of the Melbourne Comhaltas Branch costs $20 p.a. and this includes the quarterly magazine from Ireland with news of upcoming Irish events.
